		Whitianga Whitianga is located on the Eastern side of The Coromandel. 208kms from Auckland, 93km from Thames, 42 kms from Tairua. Mercury Bay is the area of water that encompasses a spectacular coast flanked by islands.
		Kuaotunu Once a thriving gold mining town, has clean, safe, white sandy beaches, is also handy to many other beautiful spots and is an ideal starting point for exploring other parts of the Coromandel Peninsula.
		Hot Water Beach Is one of the region's most fascinating places. For two hours either side of low tide, you can dig in the sand for hot spring water and make your own spa pool. It's good fun summer and winter. Spades for digging your pool are available for hire.
		Pohutukawa Tree The Pohutukawa tree (Metrosideros excelsa) grows throughout The Coromandel Peninsula. Also known as the 'Christmas Tree', the pohutukawa is most spectacular during the summer months of December and January when it transforms with a dense covering of brilliant red flowers.
		CATHEDRAL COVE Accessible only on foot or by boat, famous Cathedral Cove is one of the "must visit" sites on the Coromandel Peninsula. The track begins at the northern end of Hahei.
