Tour Tips

DAY 1 - AUCKLAND to THAMES
Depart Auckland on the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway to Thames. Activities include: the Thames Gold Mine and Stamper Battery, School of Mines, museums, a range of walks and tramps through diverse semitropical rainforest.

DAY 2 - THAMES to COROMANDEL TOWN

Drive the tree-lined road hugging the coast. Activities include: scenic and fishing trips, Mussel Barge, Waiau Waterworks, Driving Creek Railway, kauri tree grove, various garden walks, art galleries, and studios or simply relax in the varied cafes.

DAY 3 - COROMANDEL TOWN to WHITIANGA

Take SH25 across to Whitianga via the stunning beaches of Matarangi, Kuaotunu, Otama and Opito Bay. Activities include: Maori bone carving, guided sea kayaking, high ropes course, boat trips, 4WD treks, galleries, shopping and cafes.


DAY 4 - WHITIANGA to TAIRUA/PAUANUI

If you missed Cathedral Cove, Hahei Marine Reserve and Hot Water Beach while staying in Whitianga, take a detour on your way. Activities include various walks, fast boat out to the islands and sea kayaking. At Tairua and Pauanui activities include: guided and unguided nature walks, confidence course, surf, watersports, golf, relax at a cafe or on the beach.
