around Whitianga. The Craft and Garden people in our
area are of high calibre, mostly working from their
homes south of Whitianga to Coromandel. Over the winter
months is pays to call before visiting and the Information
Centre will do this for you. Enjoy visiting our special
area, crafts people and gardens.

At Whenukite there's
an interesting pottery - you'll notice the potter
in the paddock working all hours, inviting you
to drive in to Alan Rhodes studio, where there's
a fine array of domestic stoneware, salt and pit-fired
ware. Alan uses local clay and very distinctive
glazes.

A glorious two-acre garden with
well established large trees, lawns and featured pond.
The varied plantings provide year round colour, particularly
spectacular in the spring. Part of the garden is used
as a wedding venue incorporating a large marquee lawn,
formal lavender garden, rose covered gazebo. The special
"Knot Garden" was planted in 2001 using 750
box-hedging plants as a focal point for daughter Rebecca's
wedding in Nov 2002. Open
