Mercury Bay Seafood Festival

The Whitianga Scallop Festival is having a gap year due to the town centre and marina upgrade – but for those keen to enjoy the local delicacy fresh at the start of the season, save this date, 22 & 23 September 2018.

The Whitianga local restaurants are hosting a Celebration of Seafood weekend, come and enjoy seafood and music with beer and wine matches,  in and around Whitianga Restaurants and Wineries.

MB Estate Winery

11am to 5pm. Our chefs will be cooking up a storm with seafood pizzas and “Oh Boy Tacos” will be onsite providing a variety of tacos. Non seafood options will also be available. Cathedral Cove Macadamias are also joining us for the weekend and will be busy on the BBQ with their delicious macadamia crumbed scallops. And don’t forget you can select from our extensive wine menu to complement your seafood choices.

Friday Night from 6pm Grain V Grape Seafood Wine/Beer Tasting Night $95pp Reservations required - Saturday Breakfast from 8am, then Seafood BBQ from 11.30am. Good George Brewing, Tohu Wines & Mills Reef Winery will be at Stoked serving up fresh Brews and Wine, along with Toya Fleetwood performing live from 12.30pm - 3.30pm. Sunday Breakfast from 8am followed by Seafood Brunch.

The Lost Spring

Serving a range of mouth watering seafood dishes over the Seafood Weekend, come in and try our Sesame Crusted Tuna with Asian Vegetables or Seared Scallops with Porkbelly. We will be open all weekend from 9.30am.

The Salt Bar

CLAMS, with apple cider, smoked bacon & jalapeno butter. SCALLOPS, with truffle, pork belly & cauliflower puree. PRAWN & CHORIZO SALAD, poached banana prawns, chorizo sausage dressed with mango.SURF & TURF, beef eye fillet, herb poached prawns,potato and leek gratin & citrus hollandaise. All of these wonderful dishes have been matched with some amazing wines so all the guess work has been taken out of the equation. Whitianga Hotel

The weekend starts off with DJ Leon playing all your favourite songs live from 9.00pm till late on the Friday.Then on Saturday 9.00pm we have the ever popular Band Red Zone who will be rocking the hotel till the early hours.
Try our Salt & Pepper Crispy Calamari, served on a rocket salad and house made aioli. Steamed Mussels, cooked in apple cider with sourdough bread. Fish & Chips, beer battered fresh fish (pan fried option available), Garden salad and French cut fries. No need to book just bring yourselves and good pair of dancing shoes.
