information centres
The Department of Conservation (DOC) is
the government agency whose mission is "to
conserve New Zealand's natural and historic
heritage for all to enjoy now and in the
future."
DOC Visitor and Information
Centres are generally open from 9.30am to
4.30pm seven days a week. They are easily
found in or adjacent to national parks and
other reserves or in regional centres. Conservation
visitor and information centres focus on
providing full information services to help
you plan your time and activities in conservation
areas. Many have flora, fauna and cultural
and natural heritage displays, and information
about active conservation work.
