Te Whitianga a Kupe is the original place name of our town, meaning Kupe's crossing place. It is one of the few places in New Zealand to commemorate Kupe. read more

 

The Hauraki Rail Trail will be a 3 day ride for most or a two 2-day ride for those fit cyclists, making it an ideal long weekend or weekend experience.

It can be accessed from Thames, Paeroa, Waihi, or Te Aroha, and the trail also offers a range of shorter riding options, including day rides.
